Volunteering with The Butterfly Affect is more than a one-time commitment or a free t-shirt, it’s about being part of something bigger. It’s about believing in the power of education, equity, and community, and choosing to actively push that mission forward.

Yes, we appreciate hands-on help with delivering our programs but there are many ways to volunteer and support our cause, even if your schedule is limited. Volunteering, to us, means showing up with intention. It means choosing to care.

Here's how you can make a difference through our V.O.L.U.N.T.E.E.R. model:

V – Vote

If you're of age and eligible, vote in local elections, especially on issues that impact education in Newark. Use your voice to support policies that empower our students.

O – Opportunities

See a scholarship, internship, or program that aligns with our mission? Forward it to us! Sharing opportunities helps us extend more resources to our students.

L – Lead and Learn

Step up. Take initiative in your community. Attend school board meetings, educational forums, or community events. Speak up, listen, and grow because leadership and learning go hand in hand.

U – Understanding

Understand that change takes time, commitment, and collective effort. Be patient, be open-minded, and be willing to support students where they are.

N – Needed

Your presence, your skills, your ideas are needed. You are a vital part of this movement. We can’t grow without people who care.

T – Tell Everyone

Spread the word. Tell a student about our program. Tell a parent we exist. Tell a local business how we can partner. Word of mouth builds momentum.

E – Engage With Us
